YOUR MATERNITY SESSION, WHAT TO EXPECT!

This is an exciting time for you and your family and I am so pleased you found me. Because the health and safety of both you and your baby will always take precedence during our time together, if at any time you become uncomfortable or tired just let me know. After all you are carrying precious cargo and I want you to be comfortable.
WHEN TO SCHEDULE YOUR SESSION…..
A maternity portrait session is all about the excitement you and your family feel for your growing baby and of course the growing bump! The BEST time for your photo shoot is between 28 to 36 weeks. This is the time when women have a lovely full and round belly and it's also the perfect time when you will not feel uncomfortable in your body and won’t be too bloated, as in the very last weeks of your pregnancy
WHERE WILL THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Your maternity photo session will take place on location i.e., your home, park or in my home studio and may last from 1 to 2 hours. If you have a favorite or special location, let me know.
WHAT DO I WEAR???
You may choose to wear anything that makes you feel comfortable, fun, silly, sexy or just plain great. For more artistic looks we can also raid my closet of wraps and gowns to provide more drama. Here are some suggestions you may want to consider.
Long flowy skirts or dresses
Dresses, T-shirts or tanks that hug your body also accentuate your growing belly
If you love jewelry, bring your favorite pieces and leave the watches at home
For a casual look, Boy shorts, which are a very popular option, or jeans that go below the belly, or we can tuck the band under and a button up shirt works well when showing off your pregnancy. Avoid crazy and loud patterns
Your favorite blouse or sweater
Or, simply bring a strapless bra, Tank top and your panties in a bag and I’ll go from there. (Black, White, Pastel, Cream or Nude)
Jeans, dark pants or khakis,
White, black or natural long sleeved shirts or T-shirt
Coordinating outfits with mom are nice if you’re bringing something special to wear
PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
I recommend removing any undergarments or anything with an elastic strap or waistband such as tight shirts, pants, underwear from around your belly or bra that could leave a mark on your skin approximately 2 hours prior to your session.
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!!...Apply lotion to your belly to alleviate the look of any dry skin. Stay away from oils that may leave an unnatural shine on the skin.
To look at your best, you should be well rested and relaxed. Consider pampering yourself with a visit to hair and makeup salon before your session, and of course, if that is not an options, have a friend or family member assist with making sure you look beautiful and at your best. I suggest going a little heavier on the mascara and wearing a lipstick that isn’t too dark but shows a nice contrast against your natural skin color.
Eat, I can’t stress this enough. Have a good meal before your session. Make sure you eat something that has protein in it. A session can tire you out. Drink plenty of liquids; I’ll also have water in my studio and on location.
It’s important that you and your husband/partner are not rushed so try not to schedule many other events or appointments on the day of your session.
You may also want to bring your own props. Something special you would like to add to your photo such as baby shoes, stuffed animals, ultrasound, anything else to personalize your session
